Wisconsin Chapter’s First In-Person Conference

By Heidi Loewe

Hello from the Wisconsin GAPNA Chapter!

We are excited to share that we hosted the first WI-GAPNA in-person conference on Saturday, October 15th, at the Goodman Community Center in Madison, WI. This educational conference counted as four contact hours, including 0.75 hours of pharmacology. Our speakers included Paula Hensel, DNP, APNP, FNP-BC, Dr. Justin Schoen, MD, Sheryl Brockopp, and Beth Freeman, MSW. They discussed topics focusing on substance abuse and mental health in older adults. (See photos below)

Although there were fewer attendees, we received positive feedback and great suggestions and ideas for next year’s conference! Our speakers were excellent, and attendees enjoyed the venue.

Fall 2022 University AP Student Event

On November 30th, WI-GAPNA hosted a virtual presentation for UW-Eau-Claire AP Students.

President-Elect Kara Adams and Member at Large Julie Roznowski presented to 21 DNP students (a mixture of adult-gerontology primary care and family NP tracks) to encourage student membership and stimulate interest in serving older adults.

Stay tuned for our 2nd Annual WI-GAPNA Service Project happening in March.

We also have open board positions for president-elect, secretary, and member at large for this upcoming spring. WI-GAPNA WANTS YOU!!!
