Carolinas Chapter Achievements at the Annual Conference

By Carrie Fernald

Carolinas Chapter had a strong showing with attendance, presentations, and awards at this year’s Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida. The prestigious Linda B. Chilton Award, named after our first chapter President, was granted to Carroll Spinks for the registration expenses of the conference. Conference podium award winners included Dr. Laurie Kennedy-Malone in first place and Dr. Autumn Henson in second. Dr. Kennedy-Malone also received the David Butler Spirit of GAPNA Award.

Congratulations to Ladsine Taylor! She was awarded the 2022 Practice Nurse of the year at the North Carolina Nurses Association Annual Convention. Dr. Tomika Williams was acknowledged as a rising star in the GAPNA Newsletter. Drs. Kennedy-Malone and Candace Harrington were inducted as Fellows of the American Academy of Nursing.

In October, the chapter participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Future events include continuing virtual meetings and the beginning of in-person meetings and charity.
