Americans Aged 65 and Older Experience Increase in Poverty
According to the latest U.S. Census Bureau data, poverty increased among Americans aged 65 and older from 8.9% in 2020 to 10.3% in 2021.
This increase affects 1 million more older adults who rely on insufficient resources to survive.
A significant factor is that Social Security and Medicare are insufficient to keep older adults above the poverty level.
