Inaugural Virtual Education Conference Held
By Brette Svensson
The Georgia Chapter hosted its first-ever virtual annual education conference on February 27, 2021.
We were elated to present a virtual presentation after canceling what would have been our 11th annual in-person conference in 2020. The virtual event had over 30 attendees and featured a Keynote Session on “Social Isolation in Older Adults.”
The keynote was presented by Abby Cox, Assistant Deputy Commissioner, Georgia Department of Health Aging Services.
The highlighted session showcased a panel of speakers who engaged the audience in discussions on racism and disparities in health care, with practical steps and solutions.
Following a Product Theater from Sun Pharmaceuticals, there were updates in heart failure, nurse entrepreneurship, and palliative care.
Although we don't know what 2021 holds, the virtual format was a success, and we are glad to have more skills in our toolbox for education!
