Insights from the Research Committee: Highlights from the Annual Meeting
By Sharon Wexler
The Research Committee was well represented in New Orleans. Many committee members attended the meeting, presented posters and podium sessions, evaluated posters and research and education podium sessions.
Additionally, our annual activity, Cash Cab made a return. Seventeen GAPNA members cruised around the exhibit hall in the Cash Cab, and four lucky individuals emerged as winners. Rebeca Malloron from the Chicago chapter, Myla Magno from the Texas chapter, former GAPNA president Sherry Greenberg from NY/NJ, and Larissa Gourdet, also from NY/NJ, all won prizes.
Research Committee members were actively engaged during the meeting, presenting the following sessions:
- “How to Translate Clinical Knowledge into Research” presented by Mariya Kovaleva, Michelle Moccia and Sharon Bronner
- “Transitional Care Interventions” presented by Mariya Kovaleva
- “Hearing Loss” presented by Joanne Miller
- Poster: “PLAN: Preparing for Living for Aging Now, A Multi-Methods Study Investigating Older Adults’ Readiness to Plan for Aging and Frailty” by Erica Frechman
Our committee chairperson, Sharon Wexler, received the Excellence in Education Award.
The committee leadership has now transitioned to Erica Frechman. We are happy to welcome her into the role of Committee Chairperson.
