Chapter Members Attend Annual Conference

By Ruth Ann Pendergast

Greetings from GAPNA Great Lakes Chapter! We hope those who had an opportunity to attend the GAPNA Annual Conference in-person and virtually had an enlightening time.

We were fortunate to have several our chapter members attend in-person and online. We congratulate Cindy Gerstenlauer for winning the David Butler Spirit Award.

Congratulations Cindy! Also, we were excited for Nina Ganesh-Nandish as she presented her leadership poster, and I was also delighted to be a poster presenter.

We thank the GAPNA National Office staff and Annual Conference Committee for a wonderful evidence-based educational event that expanded our knowledge and fueled our ideas and reignited our enthusiasm.

Great Lakes Chapter Members at the Conference!

The GAPNA Great Lakes Chapter will hold its 14th Annual Gerontological Nursing Conference with an exciting agenda in-person event in Metro Detroit on November 5-6, 2021.

We have a new GAPNA-GLC business card that has a QR code to take you right to our website. We are using this card to recruit new members along with using multiple forms of social media and a slide presentation for universities to accomplish our chapter goals.

This year we also participated in the 25th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Michigan Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine (MiMDA) in October. This is an opportunity for GAPNA-GLC to connect with groups working to improve the quality of lives of seniors in Michigan.

Our next quarterly meeting is December 8 and it will be in-person. We are working as a team to support Maria Contreras as her adventure as GAPNA-GLC President begins.
